HAPPY DOG

Digging DogsI have six dogs. I love them to pieces, but it is the times they DON”T LISTEN that I have thoughts that are less than desireable. The better my babies listen, the happier I am, and in return, they are happier.

YOGII guess what I love most about dogs is what seems to be their unconditional love. I am usually their hero. It means so much to them that I am happy with them, that even a raised tone of my voice puts them into a submissive position, over on their back. Sometimes I have felt guilty that they are so sensitive or that I am sometimes insensitve. Initially I began this journey of Dogdom by learning myself how to train my babies. My grandmother was a breeder of papillons, my mother a breeder of shelties.  All around me my whole life, lots of dogs. What I didn’t realize as a child was that the way they behaved was a result of training. Only upon growing up and having my own dogs that misbehaved did I realize that there was something extra that needed to be done.

. Chimp 2I once went on a quest for training information when my mother visited with a new dog that she had rescued from a pound. That dog would go crazy , literaly, screaming, like a monkey, in this  high pitched squeel, whenever one of my dogs came close to her. One of my dogs nipped back at her. My dog was much bigger and I was thankful that I was there to witness it. In moments I had my dog backed off, but still I had to be nervous that this would reoccur. I did not have the training that I now have. My instinct was right, but my mother would not have listened to me, for I was not the “expert”.

I went to the computer and found this ebook, for immediate answers, named “SitStayFetch”.  The book met my expectations and supported my gut feelings about why her dog was misbehaving. Ironically, I am now doing this blog and even though I am a qualified trainer now myself, I have not written a book and wanted to offer a product that I knew was a good one. When I did my research I found that the same book that I once bought to solve my problems with my moms dog is the #1 training book for dogs on the market. I could certainly get behind promoting a product that I used myself and that obviously many others have also bought, leading to this incredible reputation and rating.

Do you know what the remedy for my mothers dog was?  As  is the case with humans, and an aspect of behavioral psychology, “positive reinforcement” was the key.  My mother kept hugging her dog after it squeeled to quiet her down and comfort her, thinking she was afraid. In essence she was telling her dog, if you squeel I will hug you. Smart dog. Miserable side effect. The squeel she made was deafening, not to mention she was pissing off  the other dogs and a fight could have ensued.

So herewith, this is my testimony to this book. I urge you, if you buy just one Training book for your dog and follow it to the letter, let it be this one. You might want to take puppy classes, but as is the rule with all things, one time, or one class will not teach you how. Practice makes  perfect.  You want to read, and reread this book until you don’t have to read it anymore . Practice. Practice. Practice.  Consisent working with your dog will get you results. Remember that when you reinforce a behavior the dog will keep doing it over and over. Reinforcement can come in a negative way too so be careful that your dog doesn’t take your scolding as just general attention.  Praise the right behaviors. This is the link to SitStayFetch. He offers a 100% money back gaurantee so don’t fret, in case you disagree with me. Good luck and good work.

You and your dog are on your way to an even better and happier co-existance together.

You have about 15 years together, do make them the best yet.
